Actors often ask: “What can I do to improve my craft, strengthen my presence, build confidence? How can I make an impact in the world with my talent?” The theater is a community – all of us dedicated to improving the lives of the others. There is no reason to be alone in your quest to develop.

We are delighted to announce that during his trip to the Bay-area,
Master Teacher of Acting Thurman E. Scott will teach a special, private class for a select group of artists – – at no charge

In Thurman E. Scott’s inaugural, all-day Acting Intensive for Bay-area theatre and film actors, this award-winning actor, director and teacher will discuss the foundation of his original acting technique: artists developing a vision and gaining tools to live truthfully on the stage and in life.

On March 22nd, join in a unique opportunity to learn from a master in an all-day Master Class Acting Intensive, together with a small group of Bay-area creatives committed to their development as artists. Learn powerful and doable exercises to free your imagination and emotions, and put your spontaneous life force into a play or script. Learn how to break down actions, make powerful choices, and use the technique to create security, liberate talent and give complex, illuminating performances.

This inaugural class will be the first in a series of Intensive Acting Workshops that Mr. Scott will hold in the Bay area, and the beginning of a very engaging process for your continued creative development.

The Class:

As a teacher, Mr. Scott creates a secure, safe environment that allows students to relax, develop a foundation of truth, and express new ideas. He teaches an original acting technique that he created after his many years of training with his mentors in the Group Theatre, studies in Europe and Russia, and many years working as a professional actor, director and teacher. Mr. Scott expanded on his mentors’ legacy by developing new techniques to free the instrument, open up the imagination and liberate talent.

In this all-day intensive, you will learn these powerful exercises to open up the emotions and imagination. We’ll then work on text, with an emphasis on finding the action of the material through script analysis, and making powerful and illuminating choices that evoke life and passion. The time we spend together in the class will open up many creative issues – – some we will solve and others will need more time. After he returns to New York, Mr. Scott will make himself available to answer questions you may have as you put your new tools into practice.
